This is gonna be an unpopular opinion but I feel having Divatox in this story as a fellow apprentice alongside Karone and retconning her age did more damage than good for her character. I was bummed he didn't even get a mention in Psycho Path and as always, Ecliptor always deserved better. With all that said, it had Ecliptor caring about Astronema so I liked it (honestly would've been one of the best comics in a while if it wasn't for the can of worms done with continuity). I'm sorry if this all sounds like lengthy nitpicking (for Power Rangers no less) but the comics have been stated to be in canon with the show's plot but with the same sliding timeline Marvel and DC does and if they wanna go through with that, they should live up to that goal. When you have to make up headcanons like Divatox got fake memories that even a MotW plays along with or have time travel be involved for this to make sense, it proves it was a bad idea from the start and not worth adding something for fanservice that falls apart the longer you think about it. It's making ideas that didn't need to be convoluted more complex and this could've been easily avoided had they not went ahead with the Divatox/Maligore background plot which honestly could've been substituted with two other OCs like Ex. I know Power Rangers canon is flimsy (Thrax) but if the comics want to continue having all the show's events in as canon, now they'd have to go through the extra effort to justify how Divatox looks not only older than Karone but also how she's old enough to even remember what it was like a 1000 years ago (this also applies to Maligore since he was discussed to be an ancient sealed evil trapped on Earth thousands of years ago). Divatox has mentioned she's over a 1000 years old, we've seen her comment it in Glyph Hanger and it's implied she's had a longer history with Rita (who we all know how old she is at the start of every MMPR episode). The show already had a reason for the two being at each other's throats one was envious that after defeating the Rangers, some person far younger and was unknown to her managed to secure Dark Specter's favor and Astronema herself was annoyed by her childish complaining. Making Divatox suddenly Karone's age wasn't worth it to make the two have history with each other for their interactions during In Space.
I'm gonna be honest, while I did like the book I also felt the decision with Divatox and Maligore felt like an oversight. Remember to mark any details that haven't aired yet with spoiler tags.
